Shooting near campus frightens students
A 15-year-old male was shot in the neck near the Cosumnes River College campus on Nov. 22. The shooting occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., said Kristie West, public information officer. The alleged suspect was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black hat and white gloves and is described as a black male with a scar on his left cheek and a grill in his mouth.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District, County of Sacramento Department of Human Assistance, Cosumnes River College Financial Aid Office and Head Start, to name of few, were all in attendance at the First Annual Community Research Fair. There were around 19 representatives from different organizations in the Sacramento area lined up with tables of information for students and community members to receive.

California DREAM act vetoed again

The California DREAM Act, which stands for Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors, was vetoed by Gov. Schwarzenegger on Oct.15.  The DREAM Act was a bill that many immigrant activists were riding on to help children of illegal immigrants receive financial aid for college.

Prop 92 would separate Los Rios from K-12 system

"Vote 'yes' on Proposition 92," is the message that the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers and many other organizations are pushing for awaiting the Feb. 2008 elections. Prop 92, The Community College Governance, Funding Stabilization and Student Fee Reduction Act, will lower fees to $15 per unit and limit the possibility of future fee increases without student notification and increases to the cost of living.
